With the economy in the dumps, people have less discretionary money for things like gambling. Casinos are feeling the impact. In order to attract gamblers, you would think that casinos would start offering better rules for their table games. Has that happened in Tunica? I surveyed the nine Tunica casinos during the first half of March. This report contains my findings. Because many of the readers of Blackjack Insider also play other advantage games so this report also contains information on craps, video poker and advantage slot machines. The conditions reported here were observed during the first week in March 2009. A few things are true of all blackjack games in Tunica. Unless stated otherwise the following rules apply. For multiple deck games the standard rules include: dealer hits a soft 17 double down is allowed on any two initial cards double down after pair splitting is allowed splitting up to three times making four total hands is allowed splitting aces is allowed once with one card drawn to each ace and surrender is not allowed in any blackjack game. Single deck games have the same rules except doubling after pair splitting is not allowed. Mississippi state law does not allow slot machines to pay 100% or more. This includes video poker so don’t expect to find any full pay Double Bonus or Deuces Wild games. There are several 9/6 Jacks or Better games available and occasionally you will find a Deuces schedule that pays very close to 100%. There are also progressive machines that have a 100%+ expectation once the progressive meter gets high enough. Some Tunica casinos have slot machines that can have a greater than 100% return expectation if certain conditions exist. The casinos that offer these advantage slots are indicated below.
