JPB is a professional engineer with three engineering degrees and works as a consulting engineer.Casinos covered in this Report: Casino Del Sol Desert Diamond Introduction When I first started playing serious blackjack in the late 1990s, I read Loeb’s book "Blackjack and the Law" and decided to avoid Indian casinos. Loeb argues that, unlike state casinos that are subject to gaming commissions, there is no regulatory oversight of the Indian casinos. He argues that one should not play blackjack at the Indian casinos. Over the past 5 years, I have increasingly found that the Indian casinos offer the best quality blackjack games, and my experience has been that the Indian casinos handle card counters more ethically than the state run casinos. I recently went to two of the Tucson, Arizona casinos – Desert Diamond and Casino Del Sol. Both casinos are Indian casinos (I think the only casinos in Arizona are Indian). I only visited the Desert Diamond next to the airport. CBJN indicates there is another Desert Diamond in Tucson. This is the first time I visited Desert Diamond. One my previous visits, I did not see any point in leaving Casino Del Sol as I thought the blackjack was good and I had limited time. Logistics The Desert Diamond is located on the south part of the city – within a few miles of the airport. Casino Del Sol is located Southwest of Tucson, about 10 miles directly west of the airport. For me, flight availability to Tucson is not that great. From Phoenix, where I can get a direct flight, it is about a two-hour drive. Tucson, Arizona Blackjack Conditions I have now visited Casino Del Sol about four times. This was my first visit to Desert Diamond. Both casinos offer "3-deck" blackjack, which I understand has something to do with the state law, and 6 decks.
