Beginning this month, we start a new series on the advantage play technique known as Shuffle Tracking written by Mark Billings, who is an expert on shuffle tracking, and also the author of the fascinating book, The Ultimate Edge. Ralph Stricker continues the story of his blackjack team's adventures, this time with the use of a concealed computer in Atlantic City, and the addition of a new female player to his team. There is some good reading in Frank Scoblete's Atlantic City Blackjack Report including Frank's and the Dominator's comments on the recent record four-hour and 18 minute roll at the Borgata casino by Patricia Demauro, casino reports from Jon, AC Rich, and Hebert, a stroll down the famed AC Boardwalk, and, of course, the rating of blackjack (and craps) games in AC. On the blackjack tournament front, Kenneth Smith presents a ground-breaking computer simulation study on different bet sizes in tournament play (the results were surprising; a must read if you play in tournaments), Joe Pane explains the different kinds of deals that tournament players sometimes make with tips on what constitutes a "good" deal, and Monkeysystem presents a new strategy for tournaments that offer a secret bet. Las Vegas casino critic LV Bear is growling again, this time about a local sheriff's plan to use casino security workers, and a casino in Reno that stupidly changed their policy to create long lines of players at their Player's Club. If you are a dice controller (or planning to become one), Jerry "Stickman" explains what bets you should be making, and the bankroll that you will need to support those bets. Poker pro Bill Burton presents an interesting article on how you can apply poker skills to everyday life situations that confront you. Last, but not least, we have a summary of upcoming blackjack tournaments courtesy of blackjacktournaments.com.

SHUFFLE TRACKING 101- Part 1 by Mark Billings
"The edge that you can obtain by shuffle tracking is based upon the same principle that underlies card counting; that is, a preponderance of big cards remaining to be dealt is good for the player, whereas a preponderance of small cards remaining to be dealt is bad for the player. The main difference is this: instead of maintaining a running count through a six-deck or eight-deck shoe as you would in card counting, with shuffle tracking you will count your way through one or more "clumps" of only 50-70 cards..."
