The Lodge at Deadwood
Deadwood is an Old West town located in the Black Hills of Western South Dakota. The area was first opened up to settlement through expeditions led by then Colonel George Custer. It is the final resting place of Wild Bill Hickok, and its past residents include the likes of Calamity Jane and Seth Bullock. Surrounded by national landmarks such as Mount Rushmore and Badlands National Park, it has since been revived as a tourist destination and gambling was legalized here in 1989. There are currently 14 small casinos, mostly housed in the city’s original downtown buildings. Bets on table games are limited to $100 per spot and gaming is regulated by the State of South Dakota.
