This is the last month that we are offering a special deal for BJI subscribers
for the new
2014 American Casino Guide just in time for the holidays
(makes a great gift). Only $12.95 (retail $18.95). See below for details.
Our lead article this month is a great one. Joe Pane summarizes in
great detail what happened to him at the Palm's casino in Las Vegas
after he
hit a royal flush (must read). Vinny DeCarlo's rant this
month deals with the elimination of the
box person at the craps table.
We have a blackjack report on the newly opened
Downtown Grand Casino
in Las Vegas (by Stu D. Hoss), and the second part on the casinos in
Laughlin (by KC Brooks). Frank Scoblete writes about his recent
visit to several casinos in
Atlantic City (it wasn't a flattering
report) and he summarizes the current playing conditions in all
the casinos. Mark Greutze does a great job summarizing all the
side bets you'll find in the casinos in
Pennsylvania. On the
blackjack tournament front, Monkesystem describes a tournament
he played in Iowa, including offering some great
tournament
playing and betting tips. If you want the skinny on
casino hosts,
read the excerpt from the book More Frugal Gambling by Jean Scott.
Lastly, Jerry "Stickman" provides some excellent strategy for
short pay and progressive Double Bonus Poker
(video poker).
Our blackjack tournament summary will resume next month.
Note: Send us your feedback on playing conditions (good and bad) that you observe
when you play blackjack and we'll publish them in the BJI in our new Reader's
Feedback on Playing Conditions section. Send to
HTamburin@aol.com.
Read this great interview of Johnny Chang (aka Mika Rosa), who was the
manager of the MIT Team, that appeared in issue 101 of the BJI. Chang
was inducted into the Blackjack Hall of Fame, and he claims to be the
basis for the Mickey Rosa character in the book, Bringing Down the
House, written by Ben Mezrich. Read more about John Chang by
