This month's issue of the BJI begins with an enlightening article by
Dan Pronovost (developer of Speed Count) that explains the benefits of
using
Speed Count vs. High Low counting systems, and the specific games
and situations to use each system regardless of skill level. Nathaniel Tilton
wrote an excellent book, The Blackjack Life, which chronicled his
part-time professional blackjack career. The key to his
(and his partner's) ability to stay under the casino radar were
some unique
camouflage techniques they used. Check out the excerpt
from his book that explains these techniques. We have three reports
on blackjack playing conditions:
Gold Coast Casino in Las Vegas
(by KC Brooks), a short report summarizing the best four blackjack
games in
Laughlin, NV (also by KC Brooks); and a
Tunica Trip Report
(by Mark Gruetze). For craps shooters, we have an excerpt from
Scoblete's excellent book, Casino Craps: Shooting to Win! that explains
how to
properly bet in craps (great advice for beginner and
experienced players). JPB shares with us a
big promotion that got
away from him (great read and some helpful tips on how not to let
this happen to you). Long time casino critic LVBear is back from
hibernation with
several rants against recent casino abuse.
John Grochowski answers a
range of questions that include bad blackjack games,
difference between poker vs. video poker, and the new slot machines
with split symbols. Jerry "Stickman" continues his series on
wild-card
video poker games, this month with strategies for playing
Joker Poker-Two Pair or Better. Lastly we have our schedule of
major
blackjack tournaments across the country courtesy of blackjacktouraments.com.
This article by The GameMaster explains the importance of penetration
for card counters. It appeared in
issue #89, and it contains good tips
on the minimum penetration that you should be looking for in a game if you are card counting.
