BJI Newsletter, December 2016, #203Read this issue as a single web pageA WORD FROM HENRYThis month's issue of the BJI has blackjack reports from Las Vegas (Max Casino, located inside Westin Las Vegas, and Westgate Las Vegas by Stu D. Hoss); and several casinos in Reno (by JPB... if you like to play single-deck blackjack games, read JPBs take on the Reno games and the reasons he disliked them.) Ariande continues his series on some of the worst blackjack plays he has observed as a dealer and player, this month focusing on betting systems (Martingale and Win/Press betting systems). KC Brooks continues his series on what to expect if you become a dealer. Paul Wilson explains more unbelievable plays he has seen players make while playing. (Some were really incredible.) My article "Will My Bankroll Last" came from a letter from an interesting (and unusual) letter I received from an 82-year old blackjack player (You may be surprised at the results of my analysis on his bankroll.) Jerry "Stickman" once lived in Memphis and played in the casinos there; his history of the Tunica casinos gives a great perspective on how casinos started in this poor area of the country and what issues befell some of them. I receive a lot of questions about dice control (is it real?) so this month I've excerpted a chapter from BJI contributing writer Frank Scoblete's dice control book that summarizes the early history of dice control with the famous "Captain." Lastly, John Grochowski answers readers' questions dealing with why casinos are offering 'bad" blackjack games; a video poker game with a nudge feature; and the best way to play a specific hand in Double Double Bonus. In issue #200 of BJI, Michele Guzzinati summarized blackjack playing conditions in several European casinos. She recently emailed me the following information for a casino located in Croatia to share with BJI readers. Crystal Palace Casino - Rijeka (Croatia): A small and quiet casino that is open twenty-four hours in the centre of the town. Personnel speak English and Italian. Three blackjack tables with standard European rules: six decks shoe, dealer stands on soft 17, double down on every cards and after splitting, no surrender. No CSM. Minimum bet; 50 croatian Kuna = 5 euros (ca. $5.30 US dollars); maximum bet: 2000 croatian Kuna = 200 euros (ca. $293 US dollars). Happy holidays, Henry Tamburin
