A WORD FROM HENRY
We begin this month's issue of the BJI with reports on blackjack playing conditions at the Orleans and Hooters casinos (Las Vegas, by Stu. D. Hoss); and our first look at the (new) Lucky Dragon and Stratosphere casinos (Las Vegas, by KC Brooks). Low-roller Riverboat Flyer took his annual holiday trip to Tunica and reports on the playing conditions in all the casinos there. Mark Gruetze also reports on playing conditions at JACK casino located in Cleveland, OH (formerly a Horseshoe casino). Nicholas Colon reviews Dr. Ed Thorp's latest book "A Man for all Markets." (Dr. Thorp was recognized at the recent 21st Blackjack Ball, and attendees were given comped copies of Thorp's new book.) It's a new year... and Paul Wilson offers advice on how to make it a more profitable year in the casinos (great read; no matter your skill level, take a moment and read Paul's advice). Casino dealer Ariande continues his insightful article on how casinos rate players, this month focusing on craps. (Good tips on the rating procedures at craps.) Jerry "Stickman" continues his interesting series on the history of the Tunica casinos, this month leading up to the great flood. John Grochowski answers players' questions dealing with playing video blackjack; strategy changes when playing Multi-Strike video poker; and the new "Sands Roulette Game" featured at the Venetian casino. Lastly, I've included a recent note that Blackjack Hall of Famer Donald Schlesinger sent to Casino Player magazine about my rant on the horrific blackjack games on the Strip and the players who play them. (His note appeared in the December issue.)
News Flash: Congratulations to Don Johnson, who was voted into the prestigious Blackjack Hall of Fame this past week by his peers at the 21st Blackjack Ball, and to Anthony Curtis, who (finally) won the coveted Grosjean Cup. I'll have more details in next month's BJI.
