We begin our May newsletter with three blackjack reports: The D and Golden Gate Casinos
in
Las Vegas (by Stu D. Hoss); eight casinos in
Tunica (by Riverboat Flyer); and two casinos
located in
Arkansas that are close to the Tunica market (by Jerry "Stickman.")
Based on his experience in playing blackjack in Kansas City, JPB concludes his
two-part series on the
history of Kansas City blackjack . Most blackjack
players don't know who George Hascik is. Check out the excerpt ("The Long Shot")
from
Legends of Blackjack to find out who he was, what he did, and how he formed a
famous card-counting team that beat casinos here and aboard. Nicholas Colon, a
former member of the M.I.T. card counting team, shows proof that casinos spend an
inordinate amount of time and money trying to
catch card counters, when in the
long run, it costs them more money than they gain. In 2014, I had an epic streak
of
royal flushes playing video poker. My article explains the streak, and contains
information on a new video poker class that I will be teaching in August (see below).
Paul Wilson offers some great tips on how we should prepare ourselves to be in
peak condition to do battle with the casinos. If you built a brand new casino,
would you make it completely
non-smoking? One casino owner in Biloxi went out on
a limb and did just that; read what happened next in the interview by Mark Gruetze.
John Grochowski
answers reader's questions dealing with the 'free" odds bets in
craps; the correct playing strategy for holding three aces in Super Double Bonus
video poker; and a story from a blackjack player who witnessed a player consistently
hitting every hand to 20 and 21.
Video Poker Class: On Friday, August 18, I'll be teaching a public video poker class
in Las Vegas. If you want to learn how to play and win at video poker,

How Slot Machines Work: My friends at 888casino (the company that published my
Ultimate Blackjack Strategy Guide book) has launched an amazing web page that
graphically shows and explains how a slot machine works, and the parts
that make a slot game attractive and fun to play. You can explore the slot
machine and reels by pressing the 360 button on the page, and zoom in and
out with your computer mouse. You'll enjoy the graphics and learn
something about slot machines.
Check it out here.

This article, which appeared in

describes the advantage-play
technique known as "shuffle tracking," and explains how to track
cards through the shuffle.
