Our June issue of the BJI begins with three blackjack reports:
The Golden Nugget and Freemont casinos in
Las Vegas (by Stu D. Hoss);
Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos in
Connecticut (by Joe Freda); and
the casinos in
Kansas City (by "JPB"). Speaking of Kansas City,
blackjack pro JPBs three-part series on the history of blackjack in
the Kansas City market concludes with this issue. (Note: You won't
find a more accurate and detailed summary of blackjack playing
conditions in this area anywhere else.) Based on feedback I
received from subscribers, I revisited the new
Stadium Blackjack
game at the Venetian and wrote a detailed report on how the
Community Cards are distributed to players and the live dealer in
this game. Nicholas Colon, a former member of the M.I.T.
card counting team, offers tips on how to know when
heat from the
pit is coming and what you can do to minimize your chances of
getting barred. Paul Wilson shares with us the five
things that
annoy him the most when he plays blackjack. (You may relate to
some of them; I know I did.) We have two video poker articles this
month: the first explains why hands containing a
low pair can be
very frustrating; and my article on
How to Play and Win at
Video Poker that gives an overview of the skills you need to learn
to gain the edge when you play. (Note: I will be teaching a
video poker class in Las Vegas in August that goes over these skills
in more detail, including hands-on practice.) John Grochowski
answers the following questions from players: How the Russian
team beat the slots in the Midwest (interesting story how they did this);
what happens when a die lies on an angle when playing a
virtual craps game (lesson learned on this one); and why
casinos don't offer more promotions to blackjack players.
Video Poker Class: On Friday, August 18, I'll be teaching a video poker
class in Las Vegas for players that want to learn how to play and win.
There is limited seating, and a limited special price for this class.
