COUNTER BASIC STRATEGY & DOUBLE DECK GAMES

One of the strategy cards contains the unique, never before published, Counter's Basic Strategy for 4-8 deck games. The question arose whether the latter strategy can be used for 2-deck pitch games and if so, what would be the loss in win rate. To answer this, Hal Marcus ran some sims and reports his results. Counter Basic Strategy ("CBS") is simply a variation of regular Basic Strategy except that using CBS requires a card counting method (such as the Hi-Lo count or K-O count) to determine when and by how much to vary your bet with the count. Although you can obtain the CBS for 2 decks using the Blackjack 6-7-8 software, the question is what level of accuracy will you achieve by using the "Blackjack 6-7-8 CBS strategy card for 4-8 Decks" in a 2-deck game. To answer this question, simulations (500 million-round for each simulation) were run using CBS for 2 Decks and CBS for 4-8 Decks. In each case the game dealt was Double Deck, double down after a split allowed, no surrender, insurance allowed, resplit up to 4 hands in total, except no resplitting of Aces, and 70% penetration. The bet ratio was 1 to 8 — if your minimum bet is $5, then your maximum bet is $40.
