Here are the upcoming major blackjack tournaments, from June 1st to July 31st, 2004.
These events are all open tournaments, not invitationals.
Note: Much of this information has not been verified recently, so be sure to check with the individual properties to confirm.
June 5, 2004: Reno, NV Reno Hilton

Blackjack Doubleheader, two separate tournaments in one day, with $8400 in prizes.
First place in each pays $2520, based on entrants. Entry and Re-entry $25.

June 7, 2004: Montreal, Canada Casino de Montreal
$52,000 Cdn in prizes, with $15,000 Cdn to the winner.
Entry fee $275 Cdn. Starts at 10:30 AM, Awards ceremony and cocktails at 5:30 PM.

The Pioneer in Laughlin has increased the size of this next event, which now features a $100K prize pool.

$100,000 Blackjack Tournament
Entry Fee $500, includes room for 2 nights, tournament gift and the following meals for player and a guest: Welcome Dinner, Meals for Saturday, and Sunday champagne brunch.
Prize Money: 1st = $50,000, 2nd = $18,500, 3rd = $9,000, 4th = $4,500, 5th = $2,200, 6th = $1,600, 7th = $1,200, 8th = $1000, 9th to 48th = $300 (quarter finalists).

Fathers Day Blackjack Tournament
Entry fee $79, Register noon to 8 PM June 18, 8 am to 10 am June 19. Play begins 8 am June 19.

American Airlines Discount

Rick Jensen (operator of Texas Tournaments, 1-866-839-8687) has arranged for BJI readers the following discount for flights to Las Vegas during May-August on American Airlines.
Here’s the deal:
- 5% discount on coach class and 10% discount for first class for tickets purchased 29 days or less prior to travel date.
- 10% discount for coach class and 15% discount for first class for tickets purchased 30 days or more prior to travel date.
- After the ticket is purchased, but prior to outbound flight departure date, the name may be changed for a service fee. The coach class discount applies to the lowest applicable fare that is available for your date and time of travel.
- For fare and schedule information and to make your reservations, please call American Airlines Meeting Services at 1-800-433-1790 and provide the discount code (see below) to LAS. Their hours of operation are 5am to midnight central time all week (note: AA bookings on their web site will NOT receive the discount).
