Blackjack Insider Newsletter, Sept. 2004, #56KNOW WHERE YOU ARE By LV Tournament Pro Tournament Pro is the pseudonym of a skilled advantage blackjack player and an experienced tournament player who has won over $400k playing in blackjack tournaments.
You always need to know where you are especially in Las Vegas. You know the slogan, "what happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas." Well guess what? That’s precisely what’s going to happen to your money, it’s going to stay in Las Vegas if you don’t pay attention where you play blackjack. Just because you have arrived in Las Vegas doesn’t mean its time to drop your luggage, open up your wallet or purse, and head straight to the casino to play blackjack. If this is your standard operating procedure (which it is for most visitors to Sin City), trust me when I say "you’ll bet getting the worst of it." As an example, suppose you check-in at the Monte Carlo Hotel and then head for the blackjack tables in the pit by the main door that leads in from Las Vegas Blvd. There you’ll be greeted with a blackjack pit with twenty one tables consisting of nineteen 8-deck shoe games with betting ranges from $5-$3,000. Dealers hit soft 17 and offer surrender. However, the other two table games have the now famous single deck games that pay a whopping 6 to 5 on blackjack. Would you believe that according to the casino folks, "these games were brought back by popular demand." But what they fail to tell you is that the "popular demand" was by the stockholders and the greedy casino managers, who haven’t found a pocket that their hands don’t like. If every subscriber that reads this report can get just two players to stop playing this bust-out 6-5 single deck game, it will eventually go away. For example, Caesars Palace listened to their customers (that’s us) and removed the game from their casino. ...enter your member login information below to read this article/newsletter...
