August 1, 2005. As I write this article, the much anticipated meeting to finalize all of the details of the new and exciting 2 Million Dollar Tournament in Las Vegas is less than 72 hours away. First, I want to personally thank Joe Pane and Kenny Einiger, who without their help and hard work, this article and hopefully this tournament could not have been completed as they have provided me with a time line and valuable insider’s information including all the obstacles that have been thrown in front of them during the process of negotiating this tournament with different casino operators. Actually Joe Pane faced most of the obstacles and that’s how Kenny Einiger role in this process has increased.

The Las Vegas Hilton launched the first ever Million Dollar BJ Tournament where one player received a lump sum first place prize of 1 Million Dollars. Jimmy Wike, who was VP of Casino Operations at the LVH during this time, conceived this Million Dollar Tournament. This is Jimmy Wike’s Tournament and it will always be remembered as the "original" Million Dollar Tournament.
