As you probably already know, three casinos have re-opened on the Mississippi Gulf Coast: IP (formerly Imperial Palace) opened December 22, the Isle of Capri on December 26, and the Palace on December 30, 2005. They are all within a short driving distance of each other, and two of them are even within walking distance. To get to them, you no longer take Exit 50, Ocean Springs, from Interstate 10. Instead, you must head south at Exit 46A, on I-110. Because it was the least damaged of any casino in the area, the IP re-opened in its original three-story barge. The Isle and the Palace casinos have opened in temporary quarters in their hotels. My first venture back into Coast Casino Land was over a month after its reawakening. A dealer-friend at IP had kept me apprised of the very crowded casino and finally reported that most weekday mornings until 11 a.m. were doable.
