AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE WORLD SERIES OF BLACKJACK

LV Tournament Pro is the pseudonym of a skilled advantage blackjack player and an experienced tournament player who has won over $400,000 playing blackjack tournaments. He competed in the World Series of Blackjack in 2005 and also finished first in a monthly qualifier in the Las Vegas Hilton’s Million Dollar Blackjack Tournament. There were only 40 seats in this made for TV tournament with a prize pool of one million dollars so 40 divided into one million comes out to a value of $25 K per seat. If you factor in your tournament skill level, the value of your seat keeps rising like a hot air balloon, but this balloon will have a very calculated destination and does not rely on which way the wind is blowing.
This is a tournament that all good players salivate for an invitation. Winning the first place prize money of $500,000 is great but the marketing opportunities for being the WSOB Champion can be endless. Just take a look at last years WSOB winner, Kenny Einiger. He parlayed his WSOB championship by writing a very successful book on tournament blackjack (Play To Win), hosting his web site www.worldblackjackchampion.com and doing a weekly radio show from Las Vegas (KLAV 1230 on the am dial on Thursday nights at 6 PM Pacific Time). So, as you can see, playing in the WSOB has great value plus getting TV exposure can’t hurt unless you want to hide your identity from the peering eyes of the casinos (we know how much they just love players that can play this game correctly). Winning the $500,000 is a home run and the publicity and promotional benefits from being the WSOB Champion are endless if played correctly.
But as many things in the world have changed since 9/11/2001, the changes that were made at this year’s WSOB tournament were heard around the blackjack world and the sounds were not what the top players wanted to hear.
