Early in his career he used High-low and AOII, and then simplified things, switching to Knockout a couple years ago and getting better results. He started playing tournaments early last year and has cashed in several, including two of the four tournaments held on the Blackjack Tournament Cruise in November, 2005. This article has advice for tournament players mentoring someone new to the world of tournament blackjack. I like telling people about my hobby, playing blackjack tournaments. Most of my friends and coworkers listen with interest, but would probably not be interested enough to travel to play one themselves. After all, the nearest casino to my home that offers tournaments is a two hour drive away, so only the most dedicated and/or interested person would make the journey for a shot at a $1,000 first prize. My enthusiasm for blackjack tournaments must’ve been contagious enough for one of my coworkers, however, because he expressed an interest in traveling with me to try it. I eagerly brought him along. Let’s start with introductions. My coworker is a young man of 24 who likes gambling. He’s been playing blackjack ever since he turned 21 and could legally gamble. He’s the intelligent, outgoing sort who likes bantering both at work and in the casino. But he’s respectful and polite about it.
