EARN A VACATION IN SEATTLE By "Rebuy" Bob Swanson "Rebuy" Bob Swanson is largely responsible for the extensive tournament offerings available in the Northwest today, having written and installed over 140 sets of tournament rules (Pai Gow, Spanish 21, and Blackjack) for various casinos in the area starting in 1999. He has authored "The Tournament Turkey" newsletter every month since December, 1999 that has become the bible to approximately 600 to 800 players in the Pacific Northwest. He has also been the tournament director for eight casinos over the past several years, and has sold his rules and forms-systems to casinos outside the state as well. Over the years, he has played many of the Las Vegas tournament blockbusters including the Las Vegas Hilton $1,000,000 Blackjack Tournament over 30 times before making the finals. He set up the first ever satellites into these events in two locations in Washington that added over 100 players to the Hilton’s monthly events. This year he nailed the 1st place win at the TPJPA tournament in Laughlin, and most recently gained another 1st in a tournament in Jackpot, Nevada.
Of course, the subject of my article is tournaments, and the obvious implication is that while you are in the Seattle area vacationing, you can nail a tournament or two to cover your vacation costs. Sounds like a plan that could work. In fact, it is and it does, and I’ll give you a road map on how to do it. Here are the facts: In any given week, there are over 70 tournaments available in the immediate Seattle area (within 45 minutes of downtown), paying out $109,500 a week in guaranteed prize money (that’s about $492,750 a month @ 4.5 weeks per month.) These numbers DO NOT include several other tournaments in the state not listed in "The Tournament Turkey" (see end of article) due to their proximity to our immediate Seattle tournament zones. Before reading any further, I suggest that you take a glance at the sample copy of my newsletter, which is located at the end of this article because it will lay it all out for you. Better yet print it so you can follow along with what I’m about to describe. Back yet? Good! Here we go… Assuming you have a printout of the newsletter in front of you, the next step is to understand the entries and descriptions.
