Readers Q&A #28
Dear BJInsider.com Expert Guide, <> Dear Ernesto, No, a 50% penetration is not worth a card counters time. You can get 70% penetration at the 2 deck games at Treasure Island (TI) in the high roller area ($25 and up minimum). The TI has the same rules as Caesar’s but they don’t allow late surrender. The deeper penetration, however, more than makes up for this. Regards, Henry Dear BJInsider.com Expert Guide, <> Dear Alliancetrks, The casinos in Puerto Rico deal 6 deck games with double after pair splitting. The El Conquistador and Ponce Hilton Casinos also offer late surrender. Be careful because some casinos only allow doubling on 9, 10 and 11. Regards, Henry Tamburin Dear BJInsider.com Expert Guide, Dear Gjkerr, Its not that it’s bad manners to split 10’s, rather it’s a very poor play to make. You should never split 10/s no matter what the dealer shows (including 3-6’s) unless you are card counting and you know there are lot’s of ten’s and aces left in the unplayed deck of cards. You’ve just seen some short term variation on your computer. If you continue to split 10’s against a 3 to 6, trust me in the long run you will lose more money than standing on the 20. Regards, Henry Tamburin __________________________________________________________________________________ Dear BJInsider.com Expert Guide, Dear Vlad, You can only card count on line if the internet casino doesn’t shuffle after every hand. Some internet casinos use more then one deck and deal up to 50% of the cards. But they change their rules often. My advice is to check the latest info on internet casinos that offer multiple deck blackjack on either of these sites to see if card counting is viable. www.wizardofodds.com and www.gamemasteronline.com.There is also information on those two sites on card counting or see my advanced blackjack articles in the archives on www.BJInsider.com.
Regards, Henry Tamburin ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear BJInsider.com Expert Guide, <> Dear Vlad, There are several good card counting systems. The two most popular are the K-O Count by Vencura and Fuchs which uses an unbalanced card counting system (book Knock Out Blackjack by Vencura and Fuchs) and the Hi-Low card counting system which is a balanced counting system (my book Blackjack:Take The Money & Run). There are also several good counting systems for recreational players that was developed by Fred Renzey including the Ace/10 front Count (see Blackjack Insider archives issue #19 at www.BJInsider.com/newsletter.shtml ). Fred also has another counting system for recreational players in issue #21. You should also read my articles on counting systems in the archives at www.BJInsider.com.Regards, Henry Tamburin
