Jean Scott is the country's best-known low-rolling casino player and author of the just released More Frugal Gambling She describes her experience as a skilled blackjack player and frugal gambler in her article on "Frugal Gambling and Blackjack." Steve Bourie, the author of the popular American Casino Guide (2004 edition just published) interviews Stanford Wong the "Guru" of blackjack. Mr. Pit Boss offers a glimpse of what the casino surveillance folks do and how they interact with the casino floor supervisors. Captain John, our Las Vegas blackjack reporter, and LV Pro attended the recent Green Chip party in Las Vegas and they give us a glimpse at what transpired at this exclusive get together of blackjack card counters. LV Pro also reports on his playing experiences (mostly good) during his stay in Sin City. Kenneth Smith reveals a powerful tournament shortcut to quickly determine how much to bet if you are trailing a table leader but must bet ahead of him. And if you want to find out what the new Borgata has done to the bottom line of the other Atlantic City casinos, check out the Atlantic City Report by Frank Scoblete and Alene Paone. Lastly we've updated out schedule of major blackjack tournaments across the country and the results of the blackjack tournament survey that some of you completed (courtesy of Rick Jensen).

By the time you read this, the first Gambler's Jamboree that was held Nov. 14-16 at the Gold Strike Casino Resort in Tunica would be history (we'll report on this Jamboree in the next issue of the Blackjack Insider). However, I'm pleased to announce that a second Gambler's Jamboree has been scheduled for Dec. 5 and 6 at the Isleta Casino in Albuquerque, NM. I will again be presenting a seminar on blackjack basic strategy and another on card counting and tournament blackjack. For details of this Jamboree including the schedule of speakers and topics click here.

THE POWERFUL RULE OF 2, 4 and 5 by Kenneth Smith

"A few years back, in an article in Blackjack Confidential magazine, I first detailed an idea that has proven to be among the most useful tournament strategy shortcuts that I know. The "Rule of 2, 4, and 5" allows you to quickly determine an optimal bet in many situations..."

"I will have to admit that I never really was an expert blackjack card counter. Some 19 years ago, when my husband Brad and I first started gambling in casinos, we studied blackjack and mastered basic strategy. We read all the books, studied the various counting systems, and tried to master at least the simple high-low. Brad was more of a numbers guy and caught on pretty fast. And I could do pretty well some of the time - but I liked to chat it up at the tables and I could never multi-task too well...."

"If you've ever read any stories about the game of blackjack you've probably heard of Stanford Wong. He's the author of numerous books on the subject, as well as the brains behind some computer software programs that can analyze the game inside and out. His most popular book, Professional Blackjack, is used as a bible by many professional players and is one of the best books for anyone who wants to learn how to counts cards..."

"Hello readers, Mr. Pit Boss is back again. I hope all of you had a fun and profitable summer. I know I did. I thought it would be interesting to do an article on casino surveillance (the infamous eye in the sky or EITS) and how they interact with supervisors like me in the pit..."

"One Saturday evening last month, at a palatial home in northwest Las Vegas, some 60 plus advantage blackjack players met to have their annual BJ21 Green Chip Party. The topic of this year's event was "Casino Security Abuse of Advantage Blackjack Players"..."

"Finally the time arrived to pack the car and hit the road for another card-counting expedition to Las Vegas. This was the one trip I especially look forward to every year. The Green Chip party, with many of my fellow advantage players in attendance, was scheduled for this coming Saturday night at a secret location, somewhere on the outskirts of town. In past years this annual party had been a closely kept secret, and that was still the case, but this year was different..."

ATLANTIC CITY BLACKJACK REPORT by Alene Paone and Frank Scoblete

"Borgata started a war. Harrah's has decided to compete by making extraordinary offers to many of their Total Rewards customers, including double cash back. Not a day, it seems, goes by without us getting great offers of free rooms, shows, and food comps in the mail from Harrah's..."

"A few issues ago, Rick Jensen presented his blackjack tournament survey and asked subscribers for feedback. Many completed the survey. The results are from 187 surveys taken personally by Rick or over the Internet. The top selection for each question is in red along with the percentage votes received from the 187 players that participated in the survey..."
